About Amanda
A west coast native, I’ve long been inspired by the wild beauty of the west coast, and the pioneering, creative spirit that’s found in untamed places.
Photography has always fascinated me in its balance of structure and unpredictability. You have to know the tools to take a great shot, but sometimes it’s the magic in the moment that makes the image perfect.
I love the challenge of constantly growing my knowledge and skills of the craft, and the puzzle of translating what I see in my head into real life.
Crafting Images
I spent my childhood taking photos with any camera left unattended for more than a few minutes.
Whenever it was my Grandmother’s camera, she’d share with me the processed pictures, allowing me the chance to develop my eye for structure, light, and detail.
Between high school and college, I took up fine-arts printmaking and, recognizing the connections between printmaking and photo processing, my art making expanded to encompass both. I soon switched gears toward graphic design and branding, but when my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, I started sorting her vast photo library with her.
Reliving the memories and moments of connectivity those photos preserved for our family rekindled my love for portraiture, and the magic of capturing life in an image.
Being trusted to document someone’s special day is extremely rewarding for me. It would be my honor to share yours with you.
Safe & steady In the midst
I love taking gorgeous images with you & for you.
More than anything, I want to feel my presence on your day as the steady & safe person who is happily saving your memories as they unfold in front of my lens.
I’m a firm believer that families are made up of the people you choose. No matter what family & love looks like to you, that’s the thing worth celebrating and documenting.
No matter what unfolds, and who is there, being fully present for you and my work will always be my focus.
